Padma Shri Dr. Rabi Narayan Bastia, a highly qualified Indian Geoscientist and a reputed personality in the Indian Oil & Gas sector, serves as Chief Executive Officer - Exploration & Production Oilmax Energy. Besides his current position at Oilmax Energy, he holds the directorship of Masirah Oil Limited, Oman which has made the breakthrough discovery in Oman Eastern offshore for the first time. He has been serving the Indian petroleum industry for about 3 decades in different capacities with distinction and his endeavours helped put India on the international oil & gas map.
Dr. Bastia has provided a high level of leadership in directing and implementing several major exploration programs including the world’s largest gas discovery of 2002 in Krishna Godavari along with 54 more in other basins He is also the proud holder of the world record of largest number of mineral discoveries.
He is currently an Adjunct Professor in IIT Bhubaneswar. He has authored the reference books titled “Geologic Settings and Petroleum Systems of India’s East Coast Offshore Basins: Concepts and Applications” and “Basin Evolution and Petroleum Prospectively of the Continental Margins of India” (published by Elsevier).

Dr.Kamath is a reservoir engineer and has over 39 years of experience and serves as Head Petroleum Engineering in Oilmax Energy Private Limited. Prior to joining Oilmax Energy Private Limited, he was working with Reliance Industries Ltd between 2002-2013 as a Vice President in Exploration Group and Senior Advisor in the Reservoir Management Group.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from ICT, Mumbai, 2 MS degrees (Chemical Engineering & Petroleum Engineering) and a PhD from University of Pittsburgh. During 1984-2000, he was at University of Alaska Fairbanks as a Professor of Petroleum Engineering where he also served as a Head of the Department and Director of the Petroleum Development Research Institute. He guided research of over 35 MS & PhD students and published over 100 Technical Papers in Scientific Journals. For all his contributions, University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2000 conferred upon him the honour of Professor Emeritus. Dr. Kamath has extensive experience in all sub-surface related work.
